Don Wartko Construction becomes Gold Shovel Standard Certified.

On January 14, 2020, Don Wartko Construction became certified with the Gold Shovel Standard (“GSS”).

“The Gold Shovel Standard (GSS) is a nonprofit organization committed to improving workforce and public safety and the integrity of buried infrastructure.  GSS believes that greater transparency in all aspects of damage prevention among buried-asset operators, locators and excavators is essential to drive continuous improvement, and vital to increasingly safe working conditions and communities." **

With over 50 years in the construction industry, Don Wartko Construction has always prioritized a safe work environment while continuing to perform first class work.  Damage prevention is, and always has been, a big part of that.

Joining GSS creates a new layer of training and adds more transparency and shared performance metrics.

With GSS, we conduct regular employee training on “One Call” laws and the Company’s GSS policies.  In addition, the Company performs root cause analysis to improve our digging practices, reduce risk, and prevent damage.
